The Iowa high schooler who on Thursday fatally shot a student and wounded five others before taking his own life reportedly posted a video of TikTok before carrying out the killings with the message “now we wait.”
The shooter, 17-year-old Dylan Butler, appeared to have posted the video from a school bathroom.
The post has been taken down along with Butler’s other social media accounts, according to the Des Moines Register. The post was also reportedly accompanied by the song “Stray Bullet” by KMFDM.
He had over 250 followers on TikTok prior to his account being shut down.
Butler attended Perry High School and shot the six people in about 20 minutes, police said.
The unidentified student who was fatally shot was a sixth-grader. It remained unclear as of Friday as to how a middle-school student was killed and whether Perry’s attack was across several buildings or sections of a larger building on a school campus.
The principal of the high school, Dan Marburger, is reportedly one of the victims who was shot.
